Celebrated my 35th birthday yesterday, with a day of mixed emotions and plenty of food and drink.

– Lunch for our GM, who has decided to move on after 27 years building and working in the company.  He gave me my working start (almost) 14 years ago.  It was a sad day but I am sure it is farewell and not goodbye..

– Dinner with Gareth and Lauren at Henley.  Great meal and Rockfords Alacante Bouquet to toast

– Flowers from G&L 🙂

-Phonecall and email from Mum and Dad, currently in UK

I have had a few days off blogging, while I have been in Fremantle, attending a work User Conference.  It was a successful conference, with lots happening and managed to squeeze in a bit of time to have a look around some of Fremantle (markets, whale watching cruise, football oval and shops!).

Our guest speaker at the conference was Glenn Capelli.  A very interesting speaker.  See here.

Hoping to catch-up on some sleep tonight after a few late nights!!

Cagney & Lacey

One of my favourite shows ever was Cagney and Lacey.  Premiered in March 1982 and last aired in May 1988.  I was a big Cagney (Sharon Gless) fan.  Have not been able to find it on DVD (even in America) until just recently.  I now have all 125 episodes and the Cagney and Lacey marathon has begun!!  Cool 🙂

I have to admit that I am a fan of burgers.  Usually they are getting bigger and bigger.  But this mini-burger is a fantastic treat, for only a portion of the calories hey 🙂  See how it is made here.

Yesterday I completed my first Fun Run (City to Bay) and today I pay the price!  But seriously, yesterday I challenged myself with a 12K walk from the City of Adelaide to Glenelg Beach (along with 24,000 other people).  Day was hot, which proved challenging and the water stops were not as frequent(and sometimes no water left) as needed on such a hot day.  Started fairly slowly as my calves warmed up, but ‘steaming’ towards the end.

Then after a break for brunch (eggs and toast), I walked another 3k home again to Brighton.  Felt a great sense of achievement for the day..but yes my legs are a bit sore today.

Official times are published tomorrow so I will wait and add to the post and confirm my time for you..

UPDATE – Officially published time – 2:09:04

Last night the family dined at Red Orchre Grill to celebrate a number of different occasions.  The food was spectacular..Macadamia Chicken and Chocolate and Quondong spring rolls for dessert for me…and the staff and ambiance was great as well.  And fantastic views over Adelaide and the Torrens River

Drinking red wine in time with the fountain had to be the highlight though 🙂

Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) was killed by a stingray barb, while filming an underwater doco in Port Douglas.  A sad loss.

Royal Adelaide Show

I took a day off work yesterday to go to the Royal Adelaide Show this year, with my friend and her daughter.  It was a gorgeous day (26c)and I indulged in hotdogs, donuts, mocha shake and showbags!!  Also spent $’s on the dodgy sideshows, with some plastic jewellery (Kyla got this) and a rather psycho looking frog…Went on the Ferris Wheel and watched Kylas on the ghost train, spinning chairs and various other rides.  Had a great day.!
